Lifelong learning

To facilitate this, we work closely with the Guernsey Institute for Training and have excellent links with the University of Middlesex and Robert Gordon University.

The Islands Safeguarding Children Partnership (ISCP) also run a wide range of children’s safeguarding courses. These include three mandatory courses covering Guernsey safeguarding & child protection policy, signs and indicators of abuse, referral pathways and protocols, the Care & Support Framework, information sharing protocols, and many more.

If you’re looking to progress into management, there are plenty of opportunities to do so. The Management Matrix Training programme has been carefully structured to help you step into management and develop leadership skills.

Our Reparative Care Team deliver training across the service on child development, family dynamics, and developmental trauma. Below are just some of the training opportunities offered:

Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) & Trauma. A seminar exploring the long-term physical and mental health effects of ACEs across a child’s lifespan.

Attachment: The Wonder and Value of Connection. How experiences of relationships shape a child’s view, and how connections can aid recovery from traumas.

Discovering the Child’s World. The workshop teaches how to develop a deeper understanding of children in care and how to best meet their needs.
